Kaliningrad region identifies a site for a future branch of the National Centre RUSSIA
A large public cluster with a park and a branch of the
National Centre RUSSIA may be developed on the site of the former House of
Soviets in Kaliningrad. This was announced by the Governor of the Kaliningrad
region, Alexei Besprozvannykh, as part of the project "Region-2030. Kaliningrad Region". The meeting was held as part of Region
Days at the National Centre RUSSIA.
According
to Alexei Besprozvannykh, the area of the former House of Soviets square in
Kaliningrad is today one of the most significant and promising sites in the
region. Construction of the building began in the Soviet era but was
never completed, and last year the structure was fully dismantled.
"Today
this is a potential site — the most central site in our region — for the
implementation of a truly important and large-scale project. There is an
understanding that a high-quality park should be created here. For now, this is
a working title — 'Russia Park'," Alexei Besprozvannykh emphasised.
The
Governor noted that the regional authorities are currently actively discussing
the future of the site and considering various development concepts. One
of the key proposals is the creation of a large public space.
"In
this park, we propose establishing a branch of the National Centre RUSSIA in
the Kaliningrad region. This could become a very strong point of
attraction — a place where decisions will genuinely be made that contribute to
the development of our region," he said.
Meetings
with regional leaders are held as part of the National Centre RUSSIA programme
"Region-2030. Kaliningrad Region", aimed at
implementing the country’s national development goals and improving citizens’
quality of life.
In
addition, Kaliningrad Region Days are taking place at the National Centre
RUSSIA from 12 to 18 January. The programme includes business, cultural,
and educational events with the participation of the region’s leadership.
