The second "Russia on the Move" event takes place in Khanty-Mansiysk on the eve of Father's Day
The second joint event organised by the "5 versts" project and the National Centre RUSSIA in Yugra took place in Dolina Ruchyov (Valley of Streams) in Khanty-Mansiysk. The event was held on the eve of Father's Day, with fathers taking to the route alongside their families, children and friends, as well as anyone keen to spend the morning being active and enjoying good company.
"Recently, I've been going out for various runs more and more often, both in the city and beyond. '5 versts' has become a regular part of my Saturday routine. It's a great way to start the day, and today, on the eve of Father's Day, was no exception. My family came along to support me, too. Happy Father's Day to all dads!" said participant Mikhail Igumnov.
Before the start, participants warmed up under the guidance of Alexei Yakovenko, an award-winning physical education teacher, basketball coach and father of many children. They then set off on the 5 km route, each completing the distance at their own pace.
After the finish, an interactive challenge area was set up for fathers. Participants put their strength, dexterity and ingenuity to the test by hammering in a nail, swaddling a doll and lifting a kettlebell. Everyone who completed all the challenges received a sweet medal and the title of "Super Dad".
At the finish line, participants also took photos with a nevalyashka (roly-poly) toy, the symbol of this series of themed events. Anyone who collects photos with the art installation from all four events and publishes them with the hashtag #НЦРоссиявдвижении will receive a real Kotovsk-made nevalyashka toy as a gift to mark the anniversary of the National Centre RUSSIA in Yugra.
The "Russia on the Move" series will take place in Khanty-Mansiysk once a month. Each event will focus on a new theme, combining physical activity with socialising. Participants can join at their own pace, either running the route or walking it. Two more themed events are still to come.
