Sports commentator Dmitry Guberniev: "The Motherland is what we have here"
Speaking to participants of the Yugra Youth Media Lab at the
branch of the National Centre RUSSIA in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area,
renowned sports commentator Dmitry Guberniev reflected on what true love for
the Motherland means and where it begins for each of us.
Dmitry Guberniev recalled the words of the character played
by Leonid Kuravlyov in the film "We, the Undersigned": "Loving
your Motherland is not about kissing birch trees; it is about helping the most
honest and the most hardworking people." In the commentator's view, it is
important to take an interest in your country and your region, whether it be
Yugra, the Moscow Region or any other corner of Russia.
"The Motherland is what we have here. Let us take an
interest in our wonderful country and pay the closest attention to it. We are
open to the world, but we also need to be thoughtful, read books and keep
striving forward. Russia is a beautiful, vast and open country,"
emphasised sports commentator Dmitry Guberniev.
In the Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia, declared
by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the National Centre
RUSSIA launched the nationwide survey "What Does the Motherland Begin With?" The project brings citizens together around shared values and love
for their country and is being implemented jointly with the Government of the
Russian Federation and federal executive authorities. It is aimed at
strengthening civic identity, preserving cultural diversity and fostering shared
national values through dialogue between generations and regions.
The National Centre RUSSIA invites everyone interested in history, archaeology and lively discussions about how the past continues to speak to us today.
Visitors to the "Geography Lessons" exposition can discover not only antique maps and atlases, but also representatives of the animal kingdom.
