Space as part of the creative economy: the role of content and industries discussed at the National Centre RUSSIA
A session titled "Global Interdisciplinary Dialogue:
How to Tell Stories about Space and Create Content in the Digital Age" was
held at the National Centre RUSSIA as part of the first Russian Space Forum.
The discussion focused on promoting space through modern media formats,
developing human capital in the sector, and fostering sustained interest in the
space agenda among young people.
Participants
explored tools for integrating space into films, television series, video
games, museums, educational and multimedia projects, and also discussed the
role of the state and business in shaping a unified strategy for promoting
space-related topics.
"We do
not aim to launch rockets for the sake of launching rockets — our goal is human
exploration of space. It is important to raise the profile of
professions in the sector and demonstrate the value of the work of engineers,
programmers, and all specialists involved in each launch. For the creative
industries, it is essential to work simultaneously with the image of deep
space, demonstrate the practical benefits of technologies, and foster respect
for the people behind these processes," said Deputy Director General for
Strategic Development of Roscosmos State Corporation, Boris Glazkov.
Space is
increasingly becoming part of the creative economy and requires new approaches
to audience engagement. Participants discussed the importance of shaping
the image of space in public consciousness, as well as developing popular
science content tailored to different age groups.
"Space
today is a domain where the interests of the state and business intersect. For
us, it is important to support initiatives aimed at promoting space, develop
cross-industry projects, and build a dynamic communication environment. We need
to speak about space in a clear and accessible language and use a variety of
formats — from films and museums to fashion and digital platforms — in order to
engage young people and foster a sense of pride in the country’s
achievements," said Senior Vice President and Director for External
Relations at Bank PSB, Vera Podguzova.
Interest in
the sector is formed from an early age and directly influences the inflow of
young professionals and the development of technologies in the future.
"Content
producers — films, television series, and video games — play a key role in
promoting space. It is important to create more projects similar to
successful cases and to develop a shared understanding of how the agenda should
be shaped: common approaches must be defined and a coordinated system for
promoting space-related topics must be built," added Director General of
the Internet Development Institute, Alexei Goreslavsky.
Participants
of the session agreed that the promotion of space requires a comprehensive
approach, including the development of media content, educational initiatives,
and cross-industry collaborations. Key factors include accessibility of
information, the creation of an attractive image of professions in the sector,
and conditions that encourage young people to engage with the scientific and
technological agenda.
The first
Russian Space Forum is organised by Roscosmos State Corporation with the
support of the Government of the Russian Federation. The Roscongress
Foundation acts as operator. The event is held as part of Space Week 2026,
proclaimed by decree of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir
Putin.
In
addition, as part of Space Week, a series of open lectures under the project
"Space Odyssey" will begin at the National Centre RUSSIA. The
first meeting will take place on 12 April and will be dedicated to the
profession of cosmonaut. Admission is free, with prior registration available
on the website russia.ru.
The stamp features a cosmonaut looking out of a spacecraft porthole into a star cluster and the depths of space.
The large-scale event is being held as part of Space Week.
The group visited a historic mansion on Myasnitskaya Street — the headquarters of the publishing house Argumenty i Fakty (Arguments and Facts).
