Kostroma Christmas tree: the gloss of Petrovskaya ceramics and stunning painted panels
Figurines of fantastic animals, amazing paintings - Kostroma decorators tried to express the artistic richness of their region as much as possible.
Low fertility of soil, risky nature of farming became the reason for active development of handicrafts here. By the absolute number of artisans Kostroma province was only behind Moscow, Vyatka, Nizhny Novgorod and Ryazan provinces. It was in Kostroma province that the first industrial artels appeared.
The Kostroma land is rich in good clay, so the pottery industry successfully developed in the region. More than a hundred brick factories were built here. And where pots are molded, a whistle toy is sure to appear.
The Petrovskaya toy, which decorates the region's fir tree at VDNH, was also born from the pottery. It is not just a toy and a musical instrument, but also an amulet. And the 90th blue spruce symbolizes the RUSSIA EXPO itself. The trees came from the Moscow region, where they have been carefully cultivated for many years. After the exposition, the spruces will be planted near VDNH.
