Lecture on cinema secrets opened new educational project at the National Centre RUSSIA
The lecture "How to Create a Successful Film or TV Project: From Idea to Implementation" opened a new series of educational events at National Centre RUSSIA, which will be held on Thursdays. The session in the format of live dialogue became a step-by-step guide for beginning and experienced filmmakers. It was attended by representatives of the film industry, as well as school and university students, including future screenwriters and producers.
The speaker was author, screenwriter, and creative producer Ruben Sarukhanyan. He shared his experience, practical advice and told the guests how to generate ideas, build scripts, work in a team, and avoid typical mistakes on the way to a successful product. Young professionals learned about how the market for films, series, and media projects of different formats works. During the lecture, the role of AI assistants in developing modern content was discussed. According to Ruben Sarukhanyan, artificial intelligence today still cannot fully replace a living person in the process of creating films.
"Neural networks are not yet the best friend for an author. There are already many shows connected with neural networks. Artificial intelligence is put in the position of a host or they try to make it behave like a guest. I'm trying to figure out how AI can be useful to a screenwriter, as many have already started writing scripts with its help. It doesn't work. Artificial intelligence is a great assistant for formulating thoughts. But it cannot create a full-fledged script because it cannot 'dig deep.' AI cannot maintain the same thought while using all the canons of scriptwriting," says Ruben Sarukhanyan.
The producer also named the "perfect equation" for a successful media product. This includes a relevant idea and content theme, a well-written story and developed characters, as well as a creative team.
"It's important to have a conflict between a positive character and a skeptic in the content. The essence of any series and TV show is some kind of conflict. You need a point where characters will clash. Besides this, the relevance of the content's theme is important. The most important thing is the three-act structure: setup, climax, and resolution. For the story to come together, the hero must go through all three stages. In any film, series, and even show, there are character archetypes: hero, agnostic, and mentor. Even in shows, there is a character who takes on the mentor function and helps the hero transform. Your task is to understand your hero from all sides. If we're writing about a doctor - understand what pain and problem they're experiencing," shared Ruben Sarukhanyan.
The producer noted the importance of such lectures and expressed confidence that the "dialogue" format of sessions at National Centre RUSSIA venues brings great practical and theoretical benefits for young listeners.
"The name speaks for itself. We want to have sessions here at National Centre RUSSIA for both youth and experienced specialists of different profiles and genres. We want people to spend their hour on something useful, to be able to come here. Many events take place here where everyone can gain something good, important, and necessary for their field and for the whole country," noted Ruben Sarukhanyan.
The event was held as part of a new educational project that started at National Centre RUSSIA. It is dedicated to culture, art, and the media industry. Every Thursday, there will be lectures, master classes, and discussions with leading industry experts. The educational series can be useful for those interested in cinema, television, theater, design, and other art directions. The project is aimed at everyone who wants to expand their knowledge and get insider information from experts.
