The lecture "Expositional Russia" will take place on April 4 at the National Centre RUSSIA
The third
lecture in the series of seven educational events at the National Centre RUSSIA
will be "Expositional Russia". It will take place on April 4,
starting at 18:00. The topic will focus on the architecture of museums in our
country – both those specially created for exposition activities in the modern
world and those with historical value.
The
moderator of the event will be art historian and architectural historian
Yelizaveta Likhacheva, and the speaker will be Ksenia Smirnova, Deputy Director
for Educational Activities of the A.V. Shchusev Museum of Architecture.
The experts
will discuss how the architecture of Russian exhibition spaces has changed over
time and how museums have provided new forms of cultural and intellectual
experience. The lecture will also explore modern approaches to creating
museum-exposition locations and buildings.
Participation
in the event is free; registration is required on the website of the National
Centre RUSSIA at russia.ru in the "Events" section.
The event,
as part of the educational cycle of the "The Birth of Scale"
exposition, follows the lectures "Sporting Russia" and
"Academical Russia".
The
"The Birth of Scale" exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA
presents completed architectural projects as well as ideas that only existed as
concepts. These are unique models of buildings, blueprints, and scale models,
preserved in museums and private collections. The exposition is open to all
visitors free of charge.
Partners of
"The Birth of Scale" exposition include DOM.RF, the Ministry of
Construction of Russia, Gazprom, the State Research Museum of Architecture
named after A.V. Shchusev, the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art, the
Yakov Chernikhov Architectural Charity Foundation, and the HSE School of
Design.
The model of the wooden architectural ensemble on Kizhi Island in the Republic of Karelia is on display at "The Birth of Scale" exposition in the National Centre RUSSIA.
