"We will not give up our leadership": the Voronezh region is pinning hopes on organic and baby food
In the course of the Week of the Voronezh Region, a meeting with its Governor Alexander Gusev was held.

The health of the nation and nutrition of the future
One of the key topics was the policy of preserving people and healthy nutrition. Alexander Gusev stressed that the region keeps on strengthening its positions in the agro-industrial complex, and relies on the production of high-tech food products, including organic products and specialized baby nutrition:
"Healthy diet should be formed from childhood, not only in the family, but also in kindergartens, schools, and institutions providing further education. Our task is to actively promote organic products to these groups, particularly. We will not give up our leading positions in organic production to anyone. There is a system of support measures for producers, and we are intended to further strengthen the leadership of the region," the governor said.
The Voronezh region is a pillar of food security
Alexey Gordeev, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, reminded that the region is one of the five largest producers of not only agricultural raw materials, but also food products:
"The Voronezh region is a key element of the country's food security. We are talking here about deep processing, which allows us to leave a lot of added value within the region. The city of Voronezh is known not only in Russia, but also abroad," he said.
Innovations and export
Anatoli Losev, Director General of PJSC "Dairy Plant "Voronezhsky", spoke about the development of specialized baby nutrition production. According to him, in order to produce locally the ingredients necessary for the industry, the region has invested more than 6 billion rubles in the creation of a new factory.
"Today, more than 80% of specialized baby food in Russia depends on imports. We have started producing our own ingredients, and are building a new factory that will fully meet the needs of the Russian market, and will allow us to export to the Middle East," Losev said.
Alexander Chumak, Deputy Head of Roskachestvo, added that the products of the Voronezh region are in demand in China:
"Just this year, there appeared a demand for our products in the Chinese market. The first collective delivery took place recently, and this is just the beginning," he stressed.
