06.22.2025

The open discussion "Video games as a tool for teaching values and protecting historical memory" will be held on June 26 at the National Centre RUSSIA. The event, organized by the Expert Institute for Social Research (EISI), will bring together leading representatives of the video games industry, analysts, and public figures. They will talk about the role of video games in shaping historical consciousness and promoting traditional values.

The open discussion is intended to broaden the audience's understanding of video games and the potential of the gaming industry as a whole, and to give an idea of how it shapes our understanding of the world. The experts will discuss how to talk about history and historical figures via game mechanics and narratives; how the video games influence the development of value orientations of young people; and how to direct the video games industry towards the production of high-quality patriotic content.

Special attention will be paid to successful Russian projects such as "Squad 22: ZOV", which carry an important educational mission through game mechanics while telling about modern heroes.

The discussion will be attended by Polina Kazantseva, Deputy Director of the EISI Internet Research Department; Alexander Tolkach, Director and co-author of the game "Squad 22: ZOV"; Vitaly Shutov, Creative Director of the studio "Playing Cats"; Oksana Gural, Vice-President of the Russian Computer Sports Federation; Anna Kozlova, Executive Director of the "IGROPROM" Exposition and Festival; Vladimir Taranenko, Deputy Head of Executive Committee of the All-Russia People's Front "For Russia"; Yaroslav Meshalkin, Managing Partner of "Heads'made"; Konstantin Kuranov, Head of special projects at the Russian Military Historical Society.

The event will be moderated by Nikita Setov, Deputy General Director at GR of the "Polylog" Consulting Group.
