"Ray of the Sun" — a vibrant decorative element of the RUSSIA Department Store from the Altai Republic
The
"Ray of the Sun" lampshade, crafted in the macramé technique, is the
main art object of the summer season at the Department Store. Decorative and
applied arts artist and macramé master Svetlana Ioffe from the Altai Republic
drew inspiration from traditional carved window frames, which held deep meaning
in Slavic culture — serving as a talisman of the family hearth.
"My
art is a reflection of everything I see. Many ideas emerge unconsciously,
chaotically, then take shape into a composition and come to life. Through my
work, I want to show that handicraft is also an art form — a way to express
oneself and bring beauty into the world," shared Svetlana Ioffe.
The interweaving
of threads conveys warmth, light and strength, recreating the atmosphere of a
home through a contemporary interpretation of folk motifs. We invite you to the
