Best ideas for a New Year home movie theater from the guests and guides of the National Centre
The New Year holidays are just around the corner — a time for cozy gatherings with family and friends. Many families have a tradition of watching their favorite movies together. In anticipation of the celebrations, the guides and guests of the National Centre RUSSIA shared their recommendations for films that are perfect for holiday entertainment.
"Usually, I work during New Year’s, but I would love to watch stories about the Grinch with my family. Another great film is "The Grand Budapest Hotel," though it’s probably not entirely suitable for family viewing. And, as cliché as it might be, "The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!" is a must," suggested Mikhail Sharaev, a guide at the National Centre RUSSIA.
Guide Gina Arabuli believes that in a large family, it’s crucial to build shared traditions, and watching films from older generations can help with that.
"You could introduce younger family members to movies that parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents enjoyed, like "Magicians" and "Morozko," which have become New Year classics. This can help them understand the character and interests of older relatives and feel the atmosphere of that time. For children, I’d recommend the "Three from Prostokvashino" cartoons, the animated series "Masha and the Bear," and from modern films, the comedy "The Last Bogatyr," said Gina Arabuli.
To avoid boredom during the long New Year holidays, one can fully immerse themselves in magical worlds, says Artyom, a guest of the National Centre from Moscow.
"'Home Alone, ' 'Harry Potter,' 'The Lord of the Rings' — basically, all things magical and requiring plenty of time," proposed his list the Moscow resident.
At the National Centre RUSSIA, visitors can enjoy not only fascinating expositions but also screenings of films on various themes — including long-awaited premieres.
