Model of the new National Centre RUSSIA building unveiled at INNOPROM in Tashkent
The International Industrial Trade Fair "INNOPROM. Central
Asia" in Tashkent became a platform not only for showcasing Russian crafts
and products, but also for discussing the future of the National Centre RUSSIA.
At the Department Store stand, visitors were shown what the new building will
look like.
The National Centre RUSSIA was established by order of the
President of the Russian Federation to showcase the country’s achievements and
foster a sense of pride in them. The head of state launched construction of the
new complex on Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment on 26 March 2026, personally
initiating work at the construction site. The future building will become an
architectural landmark of global scale and a symbol of modern Russia. The total
area of the complex will exceed 200,000 square metres, with display spaces
alone covering around 50,000 square metres, and the entire site exceeding 14
hectares. The Centre will be able to accommodate around 20,000 visitors at a
time.
The architectural concept has been developed in a bionic
style. The shape of the building follows natural landscapes and resembles a
snow cover — soft, majestic, and calm. The roof is based on the image of the Veil (Pokrov), which shelters the country, symbolising warmth, comfort, care,
and confidence in the present and the future. This image also resonates with a
snow-covered field, a mother’s shawl, and the tradition of spiritual
protection. The façade and roof will serve as a multimedia surface: lighting
and graphics will change depending on the season and the agenda, and the
"Pokrov" will be able to display state symbols and thematic visual
solutions.
Special construction conditions are required to bring such a
large-scale project to life. A pit more than 15 metres deep is being developed
above active tunnels of three Moscow Metro lines, in close proximity to the
Moscow River and in water-saturated soils. To ensure the safety of the metro
system, the main operations for constructing the diaphragm wall and engineering
works are carried out only at night.
Inside the new building, there will be display areas, a
transformable congress and concert hall, media and press centres, public and
educational spaces, as well as one of the largest panoramic atriums in the
world. A landscaped park will be created around the building, complementing the
Moscow City business district with a full-fledged urban public space. Cultural,
business, educational, and outreach events will be held here.
The model of the new building at the National Centre RUSSIA
stand complements the display of the flagship project — the Department Store
RUSSIA, which features products from more than 50 manufacturers from 39 regions
of the country. Thus, the participation of the National Centre RUSSIA in
"INNOPROM. Central Asia" brings together two dimensions: the
traditions of Russia’s regions and the vision of the future — the new building
of the National Centre RUSSIA, which in 2029 will become one of Moscow’s main
attractions and a symbol of the country.
On the first day of the trade fair, the Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA, Natalia Virtuozova, presented the model to the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov. She spoke about the key project decisions — from the architectural concept to the specifics of construction directly above active metro tunnels.
Registration for the II Video Essay Contest "Dreams of the Future" is drawing to a close at the National Centre RUSSIA.
Visitors note that they have never seen such a concentration of Russian goods and traditional crafts in one place.
