Maxim Reshetnikov: tourism is one of the priorities of cooperation between Russia and Myanmar
Russian
companies show great interest in working in Myanmar. A pool of Russian-Myanmar
projects in agriculture, energy, construction and industry has been formed,
which Russian business is ready to implement on the territory of the republic.
This was
announced by the Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Reshetnikov
during the Russian-Myanmar Business Forum, which was held in Pavilion No. 55 of
VDNH Home of Youth as part of the educational program of the RUSSIA EXPO, the
general partner of which is the Russian Society "Knowledge".
A number of
Russian manufacturers have expressed their willingness to expand the supply of
medicines to Myanmar. To simplify their entry into the Myanmar market, Russia
and Myanmar need to converge approaches to registration of medicines. According
to expert estimates, the potential volume of Myanmar's pharmaceutical market is
estimated at $1 billion.
In the
sphere of agriculture, a large joint project is being prepared for
implementation to organize fertilizer production in Myanmar. A number of
Russian companies have received proposals from Myanmar colleagues to
participate in the modernization of the country's railroads. Several joint
projects are aimed at accelerating cooperation in the energy sector. In
addition, Russian companies are ready to offer Myanmar their services in
project engineering and geological exploration, extensive experience and
competencies for the construction of hydro and thermal power plants.
"Investment
will help accelerate the implementation of potentially profitable projects. Our
countries have all the necessary conditions for this, - Maxim Reshetnikov
emphasized. - Cooperation in the financial and banking sector is growing
between our countries, the network of correspondent accounts is expanding.
There is a possibility of direct payments without the mediation of third
countries. The infrastructure to support business cooperation is actively developing.
Russian business delegations visit the Republic, the Russian Trade Mission in
Myanmar and the Russian-Myanmar Business Council are in operation".
According
to him, tourism is one of the important priorities of cooperation between the
two countries. Since September last year, Russia has launched direct air
service to Myanmar, resumed the work of the "electronic visa" and
began preparations for the launch of the "tourist card" so that
visitors from Myanmar could make cashless payments in Russia.
Myanmar,
for its part, has extended visa-free entry for Russian citizens for up to 30
days, is actively engaged in the development of tourist offers for Russian
tourists, and has launched a program of introductory trips for Russian tour
operators and journalists "Welcome, Russia!" that will help draw the
attention of Russian tourists to Myanmar's tourism opportunities.
"The
potential for developing cooperation between the two countries is very
significant. It is important that representatives of the business community
have the opportunity to have a direct dialog at business profile platforms,
where everyone can talk about the effectiveness of the implemented projects and
share information booklets with a detailed description of cases," said
Alexander Stuglev, Chairman of the Board, Director of the Roscongress
Foundation.
In the near
future, the parties plan to create a joint payment channel for tourists from
Russia in Myanmar, competitive price offers, as well as convenient connecting
flights from Moscow, Krasnoyarsk and Yekaterinburg to organize tour programs.
One of the tracks of the Open Dialogue is "Investments in Human Capital." The pitch session on this topic brought together over 30 speakers.
One of the key topics for discussion within the initiative became "Investments in Connectivity," which attracted 24% of the essay authors about the future of the world.
The pitch sessions on four tracks took place at the National Centre RUSSIA on April 28, with the participation of authors whose essays were selected by the expert council of the National Centre.
