On 7 October, as part of the II International Symposium "Inventing the Future", a key discussion of the topic "Media of the Future" will take place at the National Centre RUSSIA. The event will bring together the media industry and higher education leading experts to analyze trends and shape the image of tomorrow's communications.

In the context of rapid digitalization, changing patterns of information consumption and the emergence of new technologies, the media are now on the verge of fundamental changes. The panelists will share their vision of how global challenges and discoveries are shaping a new media reality, what knowledge and tools journalists of the new era will use, and how education for staff training should look like.

Key topics to be discussed:

Technology as a driver of changes: How will artificial intelligence, big data, and the metaverse redefine content creation and distribution processes? What new formats of interaction with the audience will become the norm?

The Media Economy of the Future: which business models will dominate? How to measure the value of audience attention and monetize high-quality content?

Challenges to trust and new ethics: How can the media maintain its role as a trusted source in the age of fakes and disinformation? What ethical standards should govern working with algorithms and generative AI?

Profession of a journalist: transformation of skills: what competencies should a specialist have in the media environment of the future? How should education change, including at the new Academy of Journalism "Kommersant", in order to prepare staff for the challenges of the next decade?

Platform convergence and audience strategy: Are the boundaries between traditional media, blogs, and social media blurring? How to build effective communication with a fragmented audience on different platforms?

The following experts will take part in the discussion:

Roman Umansky, Director General of “Kommersant” Publishing House, who will share his view on the strategic development of a large media holding.

Igor Molodtsov, Head of the Department of Mass Communications and Media Business at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, will highlight trends in media education and an academic perspective on transformation of the industry.

Ivan Sukhov, Head of the Academy of Journalism "Kommersant", Deputy Director of the Institute of Demographic Policy named after D.I. Mendeleyev, will talk about training of a new generation of journalists at the Academy of Journalism "Kommersant" and the integration of demographic data into media strategies.

Mikhail Kalmykov, First Deputy Director General of TASS, will add a practical perspective on the operational management and technological infrastructure of the media business.

The discussion will be moderated by Pyotr Kosenko, journalist and radio host on Kommersant FM.
