On the first day of the International Symposium "Inventing the Future," held at the National Centre RUSSIA, scientists, science fiction writers, journalists, and other Russian and international experts will participate in an open discussion titled "Cyberpunk and Biopunk: What Technological Future Are We Striving For?"

Where do we draw the ethical line in transforming the human body and mind through genetic engineering and integrating hardware into the human organism? How will high-tech manipulations alter the human form, and what will they offer future generations? Experts in the section will address these questions and more.

The participants will also focus on the societal impact of technical progress, the potential of genome editing, and the transformation methods that new generations might choose.

The discussion participants include Elena Bryzgalina, Head of the Department of Philosophy of Education, Director of the Bioethics Master's Program at the Faculty of Philosophy, Lomonosov Moscow State University; science fiction writer Yulia Zonis; Dmitry Telyshev, Professor and Director of the Institute of Bionic Technologies and Engineering at Sechenov University; Maxim Patrushev, Director of the Kurchatov Genome Centre at the Kurchatov Institute Research Centre; Jenan Al-Shehab, Master of Science in Engineering Systems and Process Management, Technical Director for Wireless Power Generation at Electrodis Tech (Kuwait); Johann Wegmann Peña, journalist, futurist, corporate communications specialist, researcher on the impact of modern technologies on socio-economic changes in society (Chile); and others.

The discussion will be moderated by prominent journalist and host of popular science programs, Sergei Malozyomov.

On July 1, 2024, President Vladimir Putin signed an order to establish the National Centre RUSSIA to preserve the legacy of the RUSSIA EXPO and showcase the country's achievements on a permanent basis. 

From November 4 to 6, the National Centre RUSSIA will host the International Symposium "Inventing the Future." The participants will include scientists and researchers, futurologists and forecasters, science fiction writers, and representatives of the authorities. 

The Symposium will become a unique international platform for open dialog, where the scenarios of human development and global challenges of our time will be discussed. The program includes more than 60 events in four areas: the future of human, the future of technology, the future of the multipolar world and the future of civilizations. 

The event will be attended by scientists, futurologists, government and business representatives from more than 40 countries, including Austria, Argentina, India, China, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and others. 

The Symposium program is published on the website https://future.russia.ru/. Broadcasts of the events will also be available there during the days of the Symposium.

As part of the opening of the Symposium, an exposition will be launched that will support the idea of a human-centric dialogue about the future of the world. The exposition will allow each visitor to realize the importance of personal contribution to the future.
