Scientific volunteer session for youth was held at the "Inventing the Future" Symposium
On November 5, during the International Symposium "Inventing the Future" at the National Centre RUSSIA grounds in Moscow, a youth session titled "A Dream Today, A Reality Tomorrow" was held, focusing on the participation of the younger generation in scientific activities.
"Today at the session, I saw that our youth, the future volunteers of science, are caring individuals with shining eyes. Volunteers are always about helping and selfless creation. Science volunteers, like all other volunteers, are the people who help develop our country," emphasized Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
Artur Orlov, Chairman of the Board of the "Movement of the First," shared that what impressed him the most during the session was the feedback from the students.
"We jointly addressed a number of pressing issues and reached results. It was interesting to define the problem specifically and explore different solutions. I think the kids were satisfied. For myself, I concluded that we need to listen carefully to the youth, their suggestions and ideas. And the most productive ones should then be put into practice. We have unique children! I am proud of them!" he noted.
Around 80 schoolchildren and students, actively engaged in volunteer activities, public life, scientific volunteering, and the popularization of science, participated in the session.
"We want to make the National Centre RUSSIA a trendy and popular place for youth, filled with quality and meaningful events. Today's session showed that there is a demand for such activities, and young people are interested in science. We have already planned events for Science Day in February and a major forum dedicated to the innovative professions of the future. We will create conditions for the youth to realize themselves on our platform," said Anastasia Zvyagina, Deputy Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA.
Maria Litovko, Deputy Governor of Sevastopol, shared how the work at her table went during the session.
"Today at the session, the kids asked me about Sevastopol. They mentioned that in the 'Movement of the First,' they lack even more activities, and they are ready for great feats. They are interested in everything and want to move mountains. They propose to involve children in scientific activities from kindergarten so that from a very young age, kids start to be interested in science," she shared.
Before the session began, the students went on a tour of the National Centre RUSSIA and, in particular, the Exposition "Legacy for the Future". It features over 250 artworks in various techniques — from painting to video art — created by talented young authors from six countries: Russia, China, India, Brazil, Ethiopia, and Iran.
"I really liked this exposition, to a great extent thanks to the guides. They are as young as we are and tell stories in a wonderfully engaging way! I was impressed by the stories about different cultures. I understand even clearer now that our Russian culture is the main and the best there is. But it's also important to know the brightest aspects of the heritage of other countries and cultures," said Anastasia Bogomolova, a first-year student at RANEPA.
Darja Kuleshova, a student from the Lyceum in Orekhovo-Zuyevo, added that the exposition at the National Centre is similar to the RUSSIA EXPO, but it does not repeat it: "This is already another chapter in history, and it's wonderful that such heritage will be passed down to future generations. Because we are the future."
The International Symposium "Inventing the Future" is being held from November 4 to 6. Participants include scientists, researchers, futurists, science fiction writers, and representatives from government bodies from 101 countries, including Russia, India, Italy, Iran, China, the UAE, Serbia, the USA, and France. The program features over 60 sessions across four tracks: "Future of Human," "Future of Technology," "Future of Multipolar World," and "Future of Civilizations." The program and event broadcasts are available at the website future.russia.ru.
The International Symposium "Inventing the Future" is the first event of the National Centre RUSSIA, which was established on July 1, 2024, by the order of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The Centre aims to preserve the legacy of the International RUSSIA EXPO and showcase the achievements of the country and its citizens. The work of the Centre involves federal authorities, state companies, corporations, and regions.
