On April 26, the RUSSIA EXPO hosted the National Priorities Day: Infrastructure for Life. Its central event was the plenary session "Opportunities of the Future: Infrastructure for Life".

Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, took part in the session. He noted that in recent years the country has changed dramatically, and this has particularly affected the construction industry, which has become one of the main drivers of socio-economic development. Today, the industry's contribution to GDP is 13.4%, and the total number of workers employed in the construction sector accounts for almost 16% of all employed in Russia.

"Our today's discussion on the platform of the RUSSIA EXPO is another step to assert our new national goals and objectives, which will be discussed with the President as soon as the end of May. Now we are working on a new national project "Infrastructure for Life". The word infrastructure is a broad understanding of where people live, work and rest, and what they use. The new national project will unite and synchronize all kinds of work to create new quality infrastructure. This includes the construction of housing, roads, social facilities, renewal of utility networks and public transport. Over the previous four years, we have achieved certain successes, and now our task is to prepare the basis for further fruitful work for the years ahead. If we keep and adopt new approaches, which are based on the achieved results, we will cope with the ambitious goals set before us," said Marat Khusnullin.

Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized that the main capital of the country is a person, which means that the entire basic infrastructure in the country should be developed for the residents and in their interests. For this purpose, in particular, up to the year 2030 the building complex of Russia plans to erect up to 1 billion square meters of housing, including in new regions.

"The volume of housing commissioning in Russia should be increased to at least 120 million square meters per year. We set the task to build over 1 billion square meters of housing by 2030. Thus, every fifth square meter in the country will be new in 10 years. This is a very ambitious objective, and I want to say that we are succeeding. And the accompanying infrastructure is being created around housing. So, another important task is to make every square meter of land work," he added.

"The infrastructure development project is a very big project that can only be accomplished together. But I hope that we will cope with all the challenges," concluded Marat Khusnullin.

Oleg Skufinsky, Head of the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography (Rosreestr), spoke about the contribution of the Unified Digital Platform "National Spatial Data System" to achieving the goals of the national project "Infrastructure for Life", the portal's capabilities, as well as key areas of land and real estate development.

"When everyone works on a single platform, it ensures a higher speed of management decision-making, prompt data reconciliation and improved quality. In addition, there are a number of information projects that we are actively using today with the help of the platform. Therefore, today the information resource, which we are forming with our team, is the basis for improving the efficiency of land use and solving many other tasks," he emphasized.

Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Moscow City Government, Head of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of Moscow, spoke about the development of public transport, in particular, the world's largest Central and North-Western transport hub, emphasizing the great potential of rail transport communication.

"The electric train passes through the whole of Moscow now, and many Moscow residents use the electric train for internal trips around the city. This shows that suburban communication can become a full-fledged urban transport. And when reaching the regions, it can become a land metro, which will not only connect regional centers, but can also become a very important element for transportation within the regions," said Maxim Liksutov.

The participants of the meeting were told about the experience, challenges, achievements and future plans in terms of infrastructure development by representatives of the regions — the Governor of the Vladimir region Alexander Avdeev, the Head of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania Sergei Menyailo, the Head of the Chuvash Republic Oleg Nikolaev and the Governor of the Lipetsk region Igor Artamonov.

Other speakers at the meeting included Vadim Simdyakin, Head of Department at Gazprom PJSC, Mikhail Blinkin, Research Director of the Institute of Transport Economics and Transportation Policy at the NRU HSE, Sofia Malyavina, Director General of the ANO "National Priorities", and others.
