The environmental policy of the country was discussed at the RUSSIA EXPO
The plenary session "Opportunities of the Future. Ecology" at the RUSSIA EXPO was dedicated to updating the relevant national project until 2030.
Environmental protection issues are among the main ones for people, noted Konstantin Tsyganov, First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia.
"In his address to the Federal Assembly, President Vladimir Putin voiced a whole block of environmental protection tasks. Most areas are now already covered by the national project. We plan to achieve the goals set by the President by updating this document. We are forming a structure of nine federal projects — this is a continuation of the main directions, expansion of the geography of projects, and setting new tasks," emphasized Konstantin Tsyganov.
One of the new projects, which is currently being formed, is "Water of Russia". Under it, in particular, new treatment facilities, dams and other hydraulic infrastructure will be built on large water bodies of the country.
Another new federal project that will appear in the near future is "Closed Cycle Economy". Its task is to increase the recycling of solid municipal waste and increase the share of secondary resources in the work of organizations.
In addition, the federal state information system "Eco-monitoring" is being prepared for launch. It will make it possible to collect information about the environment from more than a hundred sources and to make forecasts of situations with the help of artificial intelligence. It will be launched in stages — the first block will be up and running by March 2025.
"We are ready for the start of the updated national project "Ecology". At the moment we are finalizing the creation of project passports, coordination of activities with all stakeholders. We will complete this work until June 2024," concluded Konstantin Tsyganov.
The plenary session was attended by scientists, representatives of business and public organizations. They discussed the responsibility of industries in preserving the environment, the development of eco-activism in Russia and a number of other issues.
