On June 13, the RUSSIA EXPO featured a theatrical procession by the Moscow Historical Festival "Times and Epochs."

More than 200 reenactors participated, recreating the famous Soviet physical culture parade. They marched around the "Stone Flower" fountain with flowers and flags, performing athletic stunts. The musical score and costumes were based on the 1939 documentary film "Blooming Youth", which captured the physical culture parade in color.

"This is exactly the kind of parade shown in old films. It is a wonderful tradition that emerged in the XX century in the USSR. In today's world, sport is critically important. I danced for nearly 20 years in the Igor Moiseyev State Academic Ensemble of Folk Dance, so it is a great honor for me to pay tribute to the great choreographer Igor Alexandrovich Moiseyev, who organized such parades on Red Square in those distant years. I hope that the tradition of physical culture parades will be revived, and that our younger generation will lead healthy lifestyles and engage in sports. Such demonstrations and parades will certainly contribute to this," said parade director Ekaterina Volosovskaya.

During the event, the atmosphere of Ivan Pyryev's 1941 musical comedy “They Met in Moscow” ("Swine-herd and Stableman"), set at VDNH, was recreated at the Exposition. Musical scenes from the film were reconstructed in various locations of the RUSSIA EXPO.

"Today's parade is part of the 'Times and Epochs' festival, which is taking place as part of 'Summer in Moscow.' I love this historical festival with its grand reconstructions, craft masterclasses and large-scale exhibitions on the boulevards. Be sure to visit the 'Times and Epochs' sites — there are more than 50 throughout the city," added Ekaterina Volosovskaya.

The twelfth "Times and Epochs" festival, part of the "Summer in Moscow" project, promises to be the main tourist event of the summer. It started in Moscow on June 12. The city's streets and boulevards will transform into open-air museums, and large-scale event reconstructions in augmented reality format will take place in the capital's parks. The "Times and Epochs" festival will conclude on June 16.
