On June 2, the plenary session "Space of the Future: South Siberian and Angara-Yenisei Macroregions" was held at the RUSSIA EXPO as part of the Days of Regional Development.

At the beginning of the event, Oleg Denisenko, Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation to the Siberian Federal District, addressed the participants.

"The International RUSSIA EXPO gives an opportunity to show the beauty of our country, remember its great history, admire the achievements of the present and even look into the future, the features of which we see today. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin said that Siberia has a unique ecosystem and people who are the golden fund of Russia in terms of their values and moral qualities", said Oleg Denisenko.

In turn, First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia Konstantin Tsyganov spoke about the renewal of the national project "Ecology".

"Now we are forming a structure of nine federal projects until 2030. This is the expansion of the geography of projects, and the elimination of large facilities that pose a real environmental threat. For example, in Siberia, this is the territory of Usolye-Sibirskoye in the Irkutsk region. It is also, of course, the elimination of landfills", emphasized Konstantin Tsyganov.

Igor Kobzev, Governor of the Irkutsk region, spoke about the largest industrial sectors that play an important role in the development of the region.

"First of all, it is, naturally, the extractive industry. I would like to note that we rank first in gold mining. Large gold reserves have been discovered on the territory of the region. We also have 905 explored deposits, 25% of deposits are in commercial development. All these and many other factors have a significant impact on the region's economy," said Igor Kobzev.

Andrei Shpilenko, Deputy Chairman of the Omsk Region Government, representative of the Omsk region to the Government of the Russian Federation, in his speech told about the ongoing project to build a recreation center.

"We are launching the project of the recreation base 'Around the Sky'. If any of you likes extreme vacations: parachute jumps, hot air balloon flights, you will like it here. I would like to note that on the territory of the planned recreation center there will be a restaurant, which will be created in the shape of an airplane, where extreme lovers will be able to enjoy wonderful Siberian food", emphasized Andrei Shpilenko.

The Angara-Yenisei macroregion includes the Krasnoyarsk region, the Republics of Tuva and Khakassia, as well as the Irkutsk region. The South Siberian macroregion unites the Altai Republic, Altai region, Kemerovo, Omsk, Novosibirsk and Tomsk regions.
