At the RUSSIA EXPO, Mikhail Murashko took part in the opening of the new building of the Kurgan Oncology Dispensary
On March
13, the new surgical block of the Kurgan Regional Oncology Dispensary was
opened. Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, took
part in the event via videoconference at the RUSSIA EXPO. The oncology
dispensary's building was constructed within the framework of the national
project "Healthcare" in 2021-2024.
"The
project to modernize and create new opportunities for the oncology service was
launched by order of the President in 2019, and today 11 new oncology centers
and surgical units in oncology dispensaries have already been built, as well as
more than 16 thousand units of medical equipment have been delivered, including
expensive and high-tech equipment. In addition to investments in
infrastructure, huge funds are allocated to fight malignant neoplasms - that's
more than 320 billion rubles to provide medical care to patients annually.
This, of course, has had an impact on efficiency indicators: for example, the
number of people who overcame the most difficult period in the fight against
malignant neoplasms - a year of life, when the most intensive treatment is
underway - has increased by more than 18%. The survival rate of patients in the
five-year period has increased by more than 8%, and these are good
results," said Mikhail Murashko.
He also
emphasized that not only surgical and therapeutic methods of treatment, but
also prevention are important in the fight against malignant neoplasms:
"Specialists of the Blokhin Center have already received a state award for
verification of risk factors. It has already been proven that alcohol, tobacco
smoking, obesity significantly increase the risk of malignant neoplasms, so
fighting them improves the health of each person and the nation as a whole. It
is planned to cover up to 70% of the adult population with preventive
examinations and dispensary examinations this year, and it is necessary to use
these opportunities and pass these examinations regularly. Applying on time is
the key principle of early diagnosis".
In Kurgan,
the grand opening of the surgical block was attended by Governor Vadim Shumkov,
acting chief physician of the Kurgan Regional Oncology Dispensary Alexander
Chesnokov and others.
"Over
the past year and a half, this is already the second new medical facility in
our region. The new surgical building was very much needed by people, it is
fitted with the most modern equipment, comfortable wards. More than 1 billion
rubles was spent on its construction, and, of course, all this is thanks to the
help of the federal budget and the Ministry of Health," said Vadim
Shumkov, Governor of the Kurgan region.
The new surgical unit of the oncology dispensary is a ten-storied building with an area of 10.5 thousand square meters. "Here will be located onco-urological and onco-gynecological departments, departments of thoracic oncology, breast tumors, skin tumors, abdominal oncology. There will also be an operating block, intensive care and intensive care units. I thank everyone for their participation in the construction, and I think there will be no limit to the gratitude of our patients," said Alexander Chesnokov, acting chief physician of the Kurgan Regional Oncology Dispensary.
