Sirius Federal Territory Day opened at the RUSSIA EXPO
On January
18, the Day of the Sirius Federal Territory is being held at the RUSSIA EXPO.
The program began with a speech by Elena Shmeleva, Chairman of the Council of
the Sirius Federal Territory. She summarized the results of the year and spoke
about future projects. During the day there will be presentations of key
development projects of the federal territory - infrastructural, scientific and
educational.
One of the
key events will be a meeting with alumni of Sirius educational programs of
different years. This year, Sirius will create a unified system of support for
Sirius alumni - the most talented young people in the country. The system will
help to collect projects, programs and tools that are in demand by graduates at
different stages in order to build individual trajectories of their development
and self-realization - for the benefit of each of them and the whole country.
Throughout
the day, Pavilion No. 57 will host popular science lectures by scientists from
the University of Science and Technology and residents of ISTC Sirius. There
will also be a launch of the open interdisciplinary Olympiad, in which anyone
can try their hand.
Roman
Ivanov, Director of the Scientific Center of Translational Medicine, will talk
about how new medicines appear. Junior researcher of Sirius University
Alexandra Berlin Henis will share how to memorize what you read and what
science thinks about reading. You can meet the experts at the Knowledge.Lecture
Hall platform of the Russian Society "Knowledge" - the general
partner of the educational program of the Exposition.
Residents
of the Sirius Innovation Science and Technology Center will point out the
latest technological trends and innovations in health, security and financial
technologies.
Pavilion D
will be equipped with a zone of masterclasses, designed primarily for
schoolchildren and their parents, on fun chemistry, climate change and
"smart tourism".
A concert
by laureates of the All-Russian contest of young performers Constellation,
which is considered one of the main contests in Russia, will mark the
culmination of the Federal Territory Day. Sirius students will perform works by
Tchaikovsky, Rosenblatt, Wieniawski and Scriabin.
In the
three years since the creation of the federal territory, Sirius has evolved to
the limits of its real possibilities and has been involved in increasingly
ambitious projects. This year, Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian Government
to give Sirius the status of a national methodological center for identifying,
supporting and developing talent in children and youth across the country. In
2024, regional centers working on the Sirius model will appear in all Russian
regions. Interregional centers working with children and teachers will also
open in St. Petersburg and the Kemerovo region.
On the
federal territory, construction of a world-class concert complex is nearing
completion - this is the only hall in Europe that can transform the stage for
different performance formats in just 30 minutes. It is expected that already
this spring the students of the Sirius Educational Center will perform on the
stage of the concert complex as part of the young musicians' contest
Constellation.
In 2024, the federal territory will be the venue for the largest world and federal events. Sirius will host the World Youth Festival, the first BRICS Climate Summit, the National Youth Festival of Student Sports Leagues. It will include All-Russian competitions in hockey, artistic gymnastics, boxing, fencing, karate, sailing, taekwondo and other sports.
Work on the
reconstruction of the former Olympic Village, located in the seaside cluster,
is beginning. It will be turned into a residential neighborhood for students of
the science and technology campus. The campus development project will help to
attract more talented young people to science. Sirius already has all the
conditions for this: Sirius University is successfully operating, the second
phase of the country's largest laboratory complex in the field of life sciences
is being prepared for commissioning, scientific testing grounds for research
and advanced developments are being created, and an Innovation Center for
supporting scientific projects is being developed.
As Elena
Shmeleva noted, in 2023 Sirius acquired another important scientific direction.
On the instructions of Vladimir Putin, the International Center for Ecology and
Climate Change started its work on the basis of the Sirius Presidential Lyceum.
In addition to important and relevant research, it will provide scientific
guidance and expertise in the educational programs of the ecological and
biological center. The Center will train at least five thousand people -
children and adults. The programs will focus on education, enlightenment,
research and practical nature protection activities. One such project will be
the School Greenery Planting program, where schoolchildren, their parents and
teachers will take part in landscaping the federal territory. In addition, they
will be involved in scientific programs of complex geo-ecological monitoring at
Sirius.
The center will have laboratories, a greenhouse, a botanical exposition with information about the flora of the federal territory, a herbarium with plant collections, a museum of paleontological finds, mineral and rock samples.
The International RUSSIA EXPO is the most important achievements of the country gathered in one place. During the whole period of the Exposition, guests are welcomed by cultural events, a rich business and educational program. The expositions of 89 Russian regions, leading federal departments, corporations and public organizations are presented to the visitors.
The final panel pitching session for the "Investments in Connectivity" track took place on 29 April at the National Centre RUSSIA.
On the second day of the Open Dialogue "The Future of the World. New Platform for Global Growth" the most remarkable essays submitted by authors in each track were presented.
The topic "Investments in Human Capital" attracted the largest number of essays from around the world, becoming one of the most in-demand themes within the framework of the Open Dialogue.
