Mordovian national holiday Shumbrat was celebrated at the RUSSIA EXPO
The Mordovian national and folk holiday Shumbrat was celebrated at the RUSSIA EXPO with a concert featuring folk ensembles, a theatrical procession and a display of national costumes.
At the beginning of the event, a video featuring President Vladimir Putin was shown on stage. In it, the President highlighted that despite the country's ethnic diversity, Russians are one people, using the example of the heroism of young man Nurmagomed Gadzhimagomedov.
Following the video, the head of the Republic of Mordovia, Artem Zdunov, delivered a welcoming speech. He noted that the dance groups had prepared extensively for this day.
"We have worked hard to showcase our folk art crafts: the kind of theatrical shows we can put on and our fashion theater. I want each of you to fall in love with Mordovia and be ready to visit, and we, for our part, will always be there for you," stated Artem Zdunov.
He also presented the medal "For Services to the Republic of Mordovia" and letters of gratitude to outstanding residents of the region on stage. The medal was awarded to Mikhail Zhuravlev, President of the S.D. Erzi International Art Foundation. Letters of gratitude were presented to Natalia Zhigaeva, a member of the interregional public organization "Mordovian Community" and the folk ensemble "Azorava".
In turn, Russian Federation Senator Pyotr Tultaev spoke about the promotion of the Moksha and Erzya languages in the Republic of Mordovia.
"These languages are taught and studied in our schools. I would like to point out that this also happens in universities and kindergartens. There is wonderful modern literature in these languages that can convey the beauty and magnificence of the Moksha and Erzya languages", emphasized Pyotr Tultaev.
Additionally, Muscovites and guests of the capital witnessed an ethno-show of national costume collections by the ethno-art theater "Varma" laureates and diploma winners of international and all-Russian high fashion festivals. Those interested in immersing themselves in the ancient folk craft culture participated in masterclasses on wood carving, embroidery, beadwork and more.
