The Day of the Far East and the Arctic officially opened at the RUSSIA EXPO
The Day of
the Far East and the Arctic is being held at the RUSSIA EXPO. A grand opening
ceremony was held in Pavilion No. 75, which also featured a presentation of
achievements of the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District and the Arctic
zone of the Russian Federation.
"Today
you and I are opening the Day of the Far East - the largest macro-region of the
largest country in the world. The Far East was created by the feats of
Russians. Several centuries ago, Cossack sea expedition detachments expanded
the borders of the Russian land, went on difficult and dangerous journeys to
uncharted places, built stockades, fortresses, cities and added new lands to
Russia, making it more powerful and stronger. We continue this work today. In
2013, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin declared the development of the Far East a
national priority. Millions of people are working on the development of the Far
East, each in their own workplace: at school, in the hospital, on the bridge of
a ship and in the cab of a locomotive. I want to bow to them all. It is
probably almost impossible for one person to tell about the Far East. That is
why all of our work today will consist of the speeches of so many people: heads
of enterprises, writers, directors and participants of preferential regimes,
governors. We want to create the most comprehensive picture of the Far East. I
wish everyone success and all the best," Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Prime
Minister of the Russian Federation and Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President
of the Russian Federation to the Far Eastern Federal District, opened the event.
Alexei
Chekunkov, Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far
East and the Arctic, spoke before the presentation of the heads of regions:
"The Far East and the Arctic represent 56% of Russia's territory, and I am
convinced that these regions are the concentrate of Russia. These are real,
strong, proven people, these are endless mineral riches, this is bright
expressive, incredible nature, and this is the future. This is where the future
of Russia is now being created. The unconditional priority announced by our
President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin for the development of the Far East and
the Arctic is being implemented by the government, implemented by all regional
teams. And, of course, it is being implemented by people on shifts, on duty, by
people who teach, who treat, who live in these most amazing territories - in
the Far East and the Arctic".
Governor of the Amur region Vasily Orlov, Governor of the Jewish Autonomous Region Rostislav Goldstein, Governor of the Primorye region Oleg Kozhemyako, Governor of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Aysen Nikolaev, Governor of the Sakhalin region Valery Limarenko, Governor of the Kamchatka region Vladimir Solodov, Governor of the Arkhangelsk region Alexander Tsybulsky and Governor of the Murmansk region Andrei Chibis also spoke about the achievements of their regions during the opening ceremony of the Day of the Far East and the Arctic.
