RUSSIA EXPO hosted the largest mass reading of an excerpt from Alexander Pushkin’s poem "Ruslan and Lyudmila"
On June 6, the International RUSSIA EXPO celebrated the
225th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin on a
grand scale. One of the most striking events of the festive program was a mass
poetry flash mob, during which an excerpt from the poem "Ruslan and
Lyudmila" — "By Lukomorye Oak is Green..." — was recited
simultaneously by more than 500 people.
The event took place in Pavilion No. 75 "Regions of
Russia". The famous poetic lines were echoed by the Exposition guests of
different ages.
"Today is the 225th anniversary of the birth of the
great poet and writer Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin. As it is our custom at the
Exposition, we celebrate this significant event together, adults and children,
representatives of all regions. It is important that we are joined by foreign
guests — participants of the International Festival of Theater Schools of the
BRICS+ countries. Pushkin is the creator of our modern Russian language. His
works are imperishable and are known all over the world, they unite our country
and we are proud of them," said Anastasia Zvyagina, Deputy Director
General of the RUSSIA EXPO.
The celebration of the great poet and writer continued with
a colorful theatrical procession "What a Pushkin! What a Fine
Fellow!", with over 1000 people taking part in it. In a tight column,
accompanied by a brass band, the admirers of Pushkin's creative work went
around the halls with regional expositions and finished the festive procession
at the exit of the Pavilion.
There were four story lines in the procession. The first one
— "Pushkin's Ball" — demonstrated the characters of Pushkin's ball of
the early 19th century. The protagonists of the second theatricalization
"Pushkin's Tales" were the favorite characters of Pushkin's fairy
tales. The third theatricalization "Well Done, Pushkin!" — passed
under modern drum rhythms: the greatest poet was glorified by the Russian
youth. And finally, the honorable right to form the fourth storyline
"Pushkin is a Poet of All Times and Peoples" was given to the
participants of the BRICS+ International Youth Theater Festival, which takes
place at the Exposition from June 1 to 8.
It is attended by representatives of seven countries —
India, China, South Africa, Russia, Iran, United Arab Emirates, as well as
Belarus. The cross-cutting line of the festival will be productions of
Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin's "The Tale of the Fisherman and the
Fish" interpreted by different theater schools.
"There is an important idea in Pushkin's work — to
accept what you have. And it resonates in the soul, regardless of the language
you speak," said Asanda Mngadi, a participant of the Festival, a student
from Cape Town.
The International RUSSIA EXPO is the most important
achievements of the country gathered in one place. Throughout the Exposition,
cultural events, a rich business and educational program await the guests. The
expositions of 89 Russian regions, leading federal agencies, corporations and
public organizations are presented to the visitors. More than 15 million people
have already visited the Exposition. The International RUSSIA EXPO takes place
at VDNH in Moscow from November 4 to July 8.
