The start of a great story: the Young Tour Guides School of Russia opens at the National Centre RUSSIA branch in the Ryazan region
On 3 November, the Young Tour Guides School project officially launched at the Ryazan branch of the National Centre RUSSIA. At the grand opening, participants underwent an initiation into the craft of tour guiding and received words of encouragement from experts in the region’s tourism industry.
"This is the start of a great story that will help you learn many interesting things about your own city and our country, and discover something new. Many audiences will listen to you in the future, and they will do it very attentively and sensitively. The team of the National Centre RUSSIA branch and our competent and experienced partners will make every effort to ensure that you can conduct your tours at the highest level," Sergei Maslennikov, Head of the Excursion Support Department at the Ryazan branch of the National Centre RUSSIA, addressed the young guides.
Representatives of the region’s tourism sector supported the importance of the project and expressed confidence that it would help the young participants master the craft of tour guiding not only in theory but also in practice. Welcoming remarks were delivered by Oleg Robinov, Director of the Ryazan Historical Museum; Tatyana Kosacheva, Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Educational Work at Yesenin Ryazan State University; Vyacheslav Zhuravlev, Director of the Yesenin State Museum-Reserve; Father Nafanail, Head of the Excursion and Educational Centre of the Ryazan Eparchy; and Nikita Kuzmin, Director General of the ANO "Agency for Tourism Development of the Ryazan Region."
The grand opening programme continued with performances by Ryazan creative ensembles, giving the participants vibrant dance and song numbers.
The event concluded with a tour of the branch’s permanent exposition, "Soul of Ryazan — Heart of Russia." At the end of their training, it is precisely here that the young guides will try their hand as real guides and will be able to apply the skills they have acquired.
The Young Tour Guides School is an original project of the National Centre RUSSIA. It is intended for talented children who strive to learn more about the history and culture of our country and their region and who want to try their hand at tour guiding. Today the School brings together more than a hundred students from different parts of the country. This year, the opportunity to take a fresh look at the history of Russia and to try themselves in the role of guides into the world of cultural legacy has also opened up for residents of Ryazan.
The document was signed by Natalia Virtuozova, Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA, and Mikhail Polusmak, President of the Managing Organisation of the Creative Association "Krasnaya Zvezda" ("Red Star").
Serving one's country begins not with grand words, but with the daily choice to do one's job honestly and see it through to the end.
