The National Centre RUSSIA congratulates you on National Unity Day!
Today, on 4 November, National Unity Day is celebrated in
Russia. Russia's power comes from its people, from the ability to be close, to
help, to understand, and to believe in each other. From the time of Minin and
Pozharsky to the present day, it was national unity that preserved the
Fatherland, inspired heroic deeds and gave strength to move forward.
This day is dedicated to the anniversary of the liberation
of Moscow from Polish invaders and the end of the Time of Troubles in 1612.
Initially, 4 November was celebrated as the Day of the Kazan Icon of the Mother
of God, but after the October Revolution, the holiday disappeared from the
calendar, giving way to the Day of the Great October Socialist Revolution,
which was celebrated on 7 November. In 2004, the Interfaith Council of
Russia proposed to bring the historical date back, and since 2005, 4 November
has become a public holiday again — now known as National Unity Day.
History has proved more than once that Russia's strength
lies in the unity of its people. Our unity, mutual support and faith in
goodness are what lifted the country up in difficult times, and became a source
of victories and great achievements.
The National Centre RUSSIA is a place where the idea of
unity is brought to life. Regions and epochs, traditions and innovation, art
and science, meet here. It is a space where everyone can contribute to the
creation of a great, strong and modern Russia. Indeed, our country is
invincible when it is united.
