The National Centre RUSSIA congratulates the Republic of Ingushetia on Region Day
Ingushetia is the youngest republic within the Russian Federation. On June 4, it marks 32 years since the establishment of the region. On this day, the Law "On the Formation of the Ingush Republic within the Russian Federation" was adopted.
The Republic of Ingushetia is part of the North Caucasian Federal District, which is featured in the exposition "Travelling across Russia" at the National Centre RUSSIA. During the 90-minute guided tour, visitors are immersed in history and introduced to the cultural legacy, natural riches, as well as scientific and industrial achievements of each of the eight federal districts.
The exposition showcases a tower complex — the republic’s main landmark. In the Middle Ages, Ingushetia was known as the land of towers, as every village had its own fortifications. These towers were positioned in such a way that, in the event of an attack, residents could quickly alert neighbouring communities. The towers were residential, semi-military, and defensive. Residential towers could reach a height of 12 metres, while defensive structures stood 25–30 metres tall.
"Ingushetia is a land of ancient traditions, rich culture, and hospitable people. Today, the republic is developing dynamically, preserving its unique identity. We look to the future with confidence and strive for new heights for the benefit of our citizens," said the Head of the Republic of Ingushetia, Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov.
He added that Ingushetia makes a significant contribution to the cultural and economic development of Russia.
Guided tours of the "Journey Across Russia" exposition are free of charge upon prior registration. Full details are available on the website of the National Centre RUSSIA in the "Events" section.
