The National Centre RUSSIA and Rospatent launch the educational project "Eureka"
The National Centre RUSSIA and the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) are implementing the educational project "Eureka". The project aims to promote legal protection of the latest achievements of Russian science and inventive activity, as well as to strengthen Russia’s status as a technological leader.
The project features the winners of the "Successful Patent" contest in 2025. Their portraits are displayed on the media façades of the National Centre RUSSIA building in Moscow and on media screens in the buildings of its branches in Krasnoyarsk and Khanty-Mansiysk.
The Head of the Intellectual Property Department at the All-Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics (FSUE "RFNC–VNIIEF"), Nonna Levina, and her colleagues have developed and patented an effective method for storing spent nuclear fuel. The compact yet high-tech design of the container for transportation and storage of waste protects the environment from ionising radiation (gamma and neutron) while preventing overheating of the waste.
Another Russian scientist, Doctor of Biological Sciences and Leading Research Fellow at the Federal Centre for Animal Health, Maxim Doronin, together with his team, has found an effective way to protect livestock farmers from the threat of new strains of foot-and-mouth disease, while preserving animal health and ensuring the safety of manufactured products. The developed vaccine provides effective protection even for the most susceptible animals and is already being actively used at livestock enterprises across Russia.
Visitors to the National Centre RUSSIA in the cities where it operates can already see inventors and patent holders whose inventions have been recognised for achievements in computing, biotechnology, and nuclear physics. Among them is Senior Manager and Product Lead for Digital Energy Resource Management at Public Joint Stock Company Mobile TeleSystems, Alexei Barbetov, who, together with his colleagues, developed a new method fo rdetecting electricity theft. A computer system using machine learning identifies suspicious consumption in power grids. Compared to similar solutions, the system operates with greater accuracy and enables prompt measures to be taken to address the issue.
The "Successful Patent" contest has been held since 2022 among enterprises, universities, and research organisations whose technologies are already used in production and generate economic impact. In 2025, the organisers received more than 200 applications from 49 regions of the country. Following the jury’s review of the contest entries, the authors of 11 inventions were named laureates.
The award ceremony of the "Successful Patent" contest was held at the National Centre RUSSIA in October 2025.
The Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation and President of the Russian Olympic Committee, Mikhail Degtyarev, spoke at the Znanie.State.
