More than displays: young guides at the National Centre RUSSIA share how the country lives today
Practical sessions continue at the National Centre RUSSIA as
part of the "Young Tour Guides School of Russia". Its participants
lead tours of the exposition "Journey Across Russia", presenting the
unique atmosphere of each region. The mentors’ task is not only to help the
children master theory and convey knowledge about the exposition, but also to
teach them to organically incorporate information about significant state
dates, holidays, and events into their tours, shaping a comprehensive
understanding of how the country lives today.
"We strive to ensure that in their tours the children
pay attention to important national events and other developments. For example,
our young guides already tell visitors that 2026 has been declared the Year of
the Unity of the Peoples of Russia, and they proudly share that recently the
President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, visited us
and personally launched construction of the new building of the National Centre
RUSSIA," said guide and mentor at the National Centre RUSSIA, Natalia
Didenko.
The students of the School enthusiastically embrace their
mentors’ ideas and develop them in their tours, adding personal emotions and impressions.
In this way, national holidays and events become another opportunity for them
to share something meaningful with visitors, to learn to see behind each
display a living connection with the history of Russia, its present, and its
future.
"Last year, the President of our country established a
new holiday — the Day of Indigenous Small-Numbered Peoples of the Russian
Federation. In the Far Eastern Federal District zone, I tell visitors about the
indigenous peoples of Chukotka and about the Chukchi baidara. Its distinctive
feature is that it was used in fishing and is covered with walrus skin.
Earlier, at the National Centre RUSSIA, I also took part in a contest dedicated
to the Far East, where I represented Chukotka and won third place. Now I really
want to see this region with my own eyes," shared young guide Stepan
Laptev.
The "Young Tour Guides School of Russia" is an
original project of the National Centre RUSSIA, continuing the traditions of
the school of the same name at the International RUSSIA EXPO. The programme
includes both online lectures and regular practical sessions at the National
Centre RUSSIA, where young guides refine their skills through interaction with
real visitors.
