Subsoil in digital: high technologies in mineral production presented at the RUSSIA EXPO

Digital solutions in mineral exploration and production were discussed at the RUSSIA EXPO on the Day of Russian Subsoil Use, timed to coincide with the professional holiday of geological industry workers.

"We all know that Russia is in the top 3 in gas, oil and many other minerals production, therefore, all the issues that the global industry faces are typical for Russia as well. And the most powerful tool for increasing the efficiency of geological exploration is the introduction of digital technologies, especially since Russia has accumulated huge amounts of information, which must be competently linked together. This is a huge job that requires cooperation between representatives of government authorities, subsoil users, IT companies and many others," said Andrei Korniychuk, Director General of the ANO "Digital Subsoil Use".

Rinat Ismagilov, Director of Technical Development at Metalloinvest Management Company LLC, spoke about the practices of implementing innovative technologies and modern digital solutions.

"It is important to note that from the very beginning we planned the most complete, full-fledged implementation of digital technologies: not in bits and pieces, but in all available modules in which they could be used, we have done it. Today we have an extensive portfolio of digital projects of practical orientation, which is constantly updated," he said.

The readiness to cooperate with subsoil users in matters of industry-specific application of neural networks and artificial intelligence was emphasized by Roman Matusevich, head of the "Oil, Gas, Energy" industry of Yandex Cloud:

"The application of artificial intelligence in this field is a fertile ground, because subsoil use means large data arrays, complex calculations and computations. And by developing various levels of neural networks and applying them internally, we are certainly putting all of our developments outside so that commercial enterprises, including subsoil users, could use them".
