On patriotism and Russian villages: Georgiy Filimonov at the National Centre RUSSIA
Vologda villages today are a point of growth, improvement of living environments and pride in the country. This was stated by the Governor of the Vologda Region, Georgiy Filimonov, at the National Centre RUSSIA.
"A patriot is not a man with cabbage in his beard sitting on a bench in bast shoes, with crooked huts, potholes and collapsing fences around him. This is an Anglo-Saxon pattern, a myth that we are consistently and carefully dismantling, because Russian villages, Vologda villages, are about modern infrastructure, a developed urban-style environment, progress, and pride in one’s region and country. It is investment in people and social programmes, and our budget has a clearly defined social focus," Georgiy Filimonov said.
From 3 to 8 February, the Days of the Vologda region were held at the National Centre RUSSIA.
