On Russian video services and the new habit viewers acquired — Alexei Goreslavsky in the "Russia Speaks" podcast
Over the past year, the video consumption model in Russia has changed noticeably: more and more viewers are choosing domestic platforms not out of necessity, but out of habit. Why the home viewing format has become a key growth factor for Russian video services was explained by Alexei Goreslavsky, Director General of the Internet Development Institute, in the new episode of "Russia Speaks" podcast.
"VK Video has already come ahead of YouTube, and Rutube is somewhere very close. Over the past year, we have started using Russian video services much more. People install Rutube or VK Video on their Smart TVs, open the app, turn it on and watch what they like. That is the key moment: when you watch something on the phone — it's quick and convenient, but we watch long formats at home, using the TV. And there is always something interesting to find on the Russian services," said Alexei Goreslavsky.
According to him, it is precisely the habit of evening viewing via Smart TV that has become the growth point for domestic platforms and long formats. For more on the transformation of media consumption and the future of video services, watch the "Russia Speaks" podcast on the website russia.ru.
