"Defense of Smolensk": heroes of the past at the "Legacy for the Future" Exposition
At the "Legacy for the Future" exposition in the National Centre RUSSIA, the painting "Defense of Smolensk" by Stanislav Gordeyev is featured. Created in 2015 as a diploma work, this piece reflects the classical academic painting style embraced by young artists of the traditional school. The painting immerses the viewer in a historical context. The battle, in which the defenders of Smolensk showed incredible courage and resilience in the face of Polish aggression, left a vivid mark on the memory of Russia.
The fortress, known for its powerful walls and defensive structures, symbolized not only physical protection but also the spirit of a people ready to defend their land. Gordeyev's work is impressive and evokes deep reflections on national identity.
In the context of the exposition, showcasing works by young artists from Russia, China, India, Brazil, Ethiopia, and Iran, "Defense of Smolensk" becomes an essential element of a multinational dialogue about the future of the world.
"This painting reminds us that history is not just a series of dates and events but also human destinies that shape our perception of the world and our place in it," noted one of the exposition's guests.
In the gallery of the National Centre RUSSIA, one can see paintings, sculptures, engravings, photographs, videos, installations, and even architectural projects created by young artists over the past few years.
