The image of the father in Russian literature to be discussed at the National Centre RUSSIA
On 24 October at 19:00, the National Centre RUSSIA will host a meeting of the "What to Read?!" Literary Club. The discussion will focus on the image of the father in 19th–20th century Russian literature and its reflection in modern culture.
"Dear friends, on 19 October, Russia traditionally celebrates Father’s Day, established by presidential decree. Naturally, at the Literary Club of the National Centre RUSSIA we could not overlook this occasion. I invite you to join us on Friday, 24 October, at 19:00 for a discussion on the image of the father in Russian literature and culture — what it was, what it has become, and what it may be in the future. Join us, it will be interesting," said Alexei Chesnakov, Professor at the National Research University Higher School of Economics and author of the Telegram channel "Chesnakov. Library".
Participants will discuss how writers of different eras interpreted the father’s role, which portrayals proved most striking and controversial, what they can teach modern readers, and why the figure of the father remains so important for raising the younger generation.
The discussion will feature Alexei Chesnakov as well as writer, public and military figure Lieutenant Colonel Zakhar Prilepin.
Registration for the event is open — participants can join the meeting via the link.
