"A window to the Asia-Pacific region": director of the Centre for Regional Policy at RANEPA talks about the Primorye region — especially for the National Centre RUSSIA
The Primorye region serves as Russia's key
"gateway" to the rapidly developing Asia-Pacific region. Such a
statement was made by Vladimir Klimanov, Director of the RANEPA Centre for
Regional Policy to the press service of the National Centre RUSSIA.
"Vladivostok is much closer to Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo,
and to other Asian capitals than to the main cities of Russia. Besides, for the
country itself, Vladivostok is the terminus of a railway line that crosses more
than 9 thousand kilometers of the entire country. Therefore, the functions of
Primorye and Vladivostok are multifaceted," said Vladimir Klimanov.
The expert noted that the main idea here is the development
of industries related to the development of natural and marine resources of the
Pacific Ocean, as well as the fulfillment of strategic geopolitical tasks,
including transport functions.
"Vladivostok is also the easternmost city with a
European character on the planet: a federal university operates here, the
National Centre RUSSIA in the Primorye region is planned to open, a modern
Opera house was put into operation slightly more than 10 years ago, and the
urban environment familiar to residents of Russia and Europe is developing. All
this makes the development of Vladivostok as a centre of science, education and
culture quite logical" Vladimir Klimanov emphasized.
You can learn more about the Eastern Gates of Russia at the
display of the National Centre RUSSIA. There, everyone can get acquainted with
the exposition "Gateway to Asia". This area showcases the
geopolitical position and transport and logistics potential of Primorye. A
simple language is used to share the information about sea, air and rail
transportation in the region.
