The Omsk region celebrates its Region Day

The Omsk region celebrates its Region Day
12.07.2025

Today, 7 December, the Omsk region celebrates its Region Day. It was established by a decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee in 1934 and originally comprised 69 districts. The region acquired its present borders in 1944, after the separation of the Tyumen region. The National Centre RUSSIA congratulates all residents of the region on this special day!

The Omsk region is a constituent entity of the Russian Federation located in Siberia, known for its developed industrial sector, significant historical and cultural heritage and diverse natural resources. The region successfully integrates modern technological solutions with traditional ways of life.

The territory of the Omsk region has historically held strategic importance. It serves as a key stronghold for Russia in the Irtysh area and in south-western Siberia. Its history is closely linked to the development of industry and agriculture. The presence of archaeological sites, architectural monuments, protected natural areas and wildlife reserves creates strong potential for the development of tourism.

Today, the Omsk region is actively advancing its social and economic agenda, upgrading road and transport infrastructure and creating a comfortable and safe urban environment. The region has well-developed agro-biotechnology, mechanical engineering and petrochemical sectors.

The Omsk region is part of the Siberian Federal District, which is prominently represented at the "Journey Across Russia" exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA. Visitors can learn more about our country by joining one of the guided tours of the exposition. Tours are held daily, except on Mondays, and registration is available on the website russia.ru in the "Events" section.
