From izba to skyscraper: young guests brought "The Birth of Scale" exposition to life on original postcards
The workshop "Postcards from the Exposition" took place at the National Centre RUSSIA on June 7 as part of the educational programme of "The Birth of Scale" exposition. Inspired by the displays, young visitors of the
children's architecture class created unique original postcards under the
guidance of experienced mentors.
The session
was led by architect Alisa Brezhneva, founder and head of the children's
creative studio BUM, along with studio teachers — architect Nika Dzhantimirova
and artist Sasha Dorofeyeva.
"Although
many of the children who took part in our workshop had never drawn or
encountered architecture before, all of them created very stylish postcards —
we were impressed. In general, our goal isn’t to make sure the final result is
perfectly beautiful. What matters most is encouraging the child to express
their ideas and mood," said Alisa Brezhneva.
Each
postcard reflected different architectural eras presented in "The Birth of
Scale" exposition — from wooden architecture and Melnikov's Moscow to the
Ostankino Tower, bridges, and skyscrapers.
"I
like drawing something unique that no one else will ever have, and I really
love architecture, so I was inspired by the unusual Makhorka Factory building
at the exposition," shared Dasha, a participant of the workshop.
The
creative process gave participants not only inspiration and vivid impressions,
but also an opportunity to see familiar urban landscapes and architectural
objects from a new perspective.
"I
really enjoyed the workshop. For those who love drawing, it’s very interesting.
On my postcard, I drew two towers — 'Tower 2000' and 'Evolution', because they
seemed the most complex in terms of design," added young Alexander.
"The Birth of Scale" architectural exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA
reveals the grandeur of Russia through its architectural legacy. The exposition
includes both items from the National Centre RUSSIA and pieces provided by
museums and private collectors from across the country. Among them are tools
used by architects from different eras, blueprints and models, and
architectural designs — both those that were successfully built and those that
remained bold concepts. A separate section is devoted to the future of Russian
architecture: children’s creative studios, student workshops, and works by
young architects.
