From the MC-21 to a lunar station: Denis Manturov presents projects for achieving technological leadership at the National Centre RUSSIA
Russia's achievement of global technological leadership is focused on nine national projects designed to improve more than 15 industrial sectors and launch a deep transformation of key economic sectors. This was stated by Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, during the presentation of the project titled "Platform of the Future: 100 Projects of Russia. Technologies". The event took place on 16 December at the National Centre RUSSIA.
"I am glad to welcome you at this wonderful venue, which today is dedicated to discussing the most important goal of national development. In the President's decree, it is formulated as 'technological leadership'. I hope my colleagues will be able to explain this term through specific projects and provide a substantive idea of how Russia will achieve superiority on the global markets," Denis Manturov greeted the guests and participants.
He emphasised that achieving this ambitious goal is focused on nine national projects designed to strengthen more than 15 industrial sectors and launch a deep transformation of key economic sectors. In particular, this concerns the transport sector, for which a line of new, fully Russian civil aircraft is being created in an extremely compressed timeframe.
"In turn, in shipbuilding, work is underway to renew the water transport fleet. Today we are the undisputed leader in the segment of nuclear icebreakers; we have secured strong positions in electric passenger ships, and successfully entered the niche of cruise liners; we are among the first to implement autonomous ship navigation technologies," continued the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
Denis Manturov noted that the trend towards autonomy is also relevant for railways, but the main breakthrough will be the creation of electric trains featuring 400 km/h operating speed by 2028. He called the chemical complex, where hundreds of technologies have been implemented, no less important.
"The relevant national project must ensure our own production of more than seven hundred critically important chemical products. This will allow us to close production chains without relying on imported substances. An emphasis is also placed on composites. The industry is concentrating on materials combining carbon fibers with polymers, ceramics, and metals," he stated.
According to Denis Manturov, the industry has already proven its adaptability by solving the task of carbon fiber for the MC-21, and today domestic composites are used in aircraft and helicopter manufacturing, in shipbuilding and medicine.
"A separate set of tasks is related to energy, including the nuclear sector and the localisation of equipment for LNG and RES, and the Government pays special attention to technologies designed for food security and the development of the bioeconomy. The world has already come to understand that bio-competencies can transform almost any industry. We are managing to integrate into the global trend, which will subsequently allow us to claim leading positions. Thus, today technologies and breakthroughs in one area become a catalyst for changes in a dozen others," he noted.
Denis Manturov paid special attention to the space industry, whose task is to increase satellite production and reduce launch costs by developing new launch vehicles. Furthermore, projects on creating a Russian orbital station and a lunar station with a nuclear power unit were highlighted.
"The time when engineering, creative thought played a secondary role has, fortunately, irrevocably passed. Therefore, I expect that the platform of the future, which is being laid today, will become fertile soil for the realisation of your boldest, and in a good way, audacious, ideas," said the First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation in conclusion.
The series of thematic programmes "Platform of the Future: 100 Projects of Russia" is held at the National Centre RUSSIA. They are dedicated to the national development goals outlined in Decree No. 309 of the President of the Russian Federation.
Before the end of the year, on 23 December, another thematic meeting will be held. During it, Alexander Kozlov, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, will present the most important initiatives covering environmental protection. Project presentations at the National Centre RUSSIA are conducted by their leaders and beneficiaries, as well as those who provide support in the implementation of the initiatives.
A gala concert and the awards ceremony for the winners of the All-Russian Song Contest for Composers "The Songs Our Mother Sang to Us" was held at the National Centre RUSSIA.
The event formed part of the programme of the International Forum of Technical Textiles 2025.
