The country’s first Christmas trees have been decorated at VDNH
The decoration of fir trees for the New Year has begun on the Main Alley of VDNH. There are 89 trees in total, just like the regions of our country. Each of them will be decorated taking into account regional traditions and culture.
The 90th tree will also appear on the Alley — a blue spruce. It will symbolize the whole country.
"To date, we have already decorated 12 Christmas trees. All of them will be ready for the New Year as early as December 1", — said Anastasia Zvyagina, Deputy Director General of the ANO «Directorate of the Exhibition of Achievements "Russia"».
According to her, later these trees will be planted near VDNH — they will remind of the exposition as a symbol of unity of all the regions of the Russian Federation.
Each tree will be decorated to reflect the peculiarities of the regions. For example, the Tyumen tree will have author’s toys in the form of carved platbands, Chukotka will present unique products made of whalebone.
The first to be decorated was the fir tree of Krasnoyarsk region. It was adorned in the style of the Siberian forest, with snow finches and images of the region’s residents themselves. And the tree of the Tver region was decorated in the style of Torzhok gold embroidery.
Let us remind you that the International RUSSIA EXPO is being held at VDNH in Moscow. It brings together expositions of 89 regions of Russia, leading federal departments, corporations and public organizations. Workshops, movie screenings, lectures and many other events are held for guests.
