First forum of the Russian Customs Academy launched at the National Centre RUSSIA
On 10 February, the First Forum of the Russian Customs Academy (the RCA) is being held at the National Centre RUSSIA, aimed at enhancing the prestige of the profession and young people's interest in the Academy’s activities. According to event attendants, more and more school graduates are linking their further education to the RCA, and RCA students, in turn, are linking their future profession to the customs service. Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia, Olga Petrova, delivered a welcoming address.
"Today we have gathered at the National Centre RUSSIA, which is a place of strength and unification, to establish a new tradition. I thank each of you for standing guard over our borders and national security. Every year, the number of applicants who choose this profession and then join the ranks of the Russian customs service is growing. I wish all students of the Customs Service Academy success in their studies and service to Russia. May you succeed in everything!" said Olga Petrova.
In his video address to the participants, the Head of the Federal Customs Service (the FCS) of Russia, Valery Pikalyov, noted that modern customs are a technological and multifunctional structure. They combine economic, legal, informational, law enforcement, and international competencies.
"A customs officer is a profession for those who love challenges, know how to work in a team, and are ready to solve complex problems. The forum's title is 'Russian Customs Academy. The Start of a Successful Career'. And it is not without a reason. Its task is to open for you the world of opportunities offered by the profession of a customs officer; to show that the customs service is a modern, technological, and socially significant state service where opportunities are created for demonstrating intellect, creativity, and true patriotism. And there is room here for realising career ambitions," said the Head of the FCS of Russia.
Valery Pikalyov added that by choosing to study at the Academy and subsequent service in the customs authorities, young people not only observe how the country's future is taking shape but also participate in its creation.
With the support of the FCS leadership, the educational institution is making great efforts to further improve the quality of education. According to the Acting Head of the Russian Customs Academy, Rafael Zverev, the academy faces the task of training the customs officers of the future.
"Last year, the FCS of Russia launched a re-engineering of all processes of customs administration and foreign economic activity, starting from law enforcement functions, fiscal, service-oriented, etc. To use this toolkit, specialists of a new level are required — the so-called customs officers of the future. Thanks to the coordinated work of the teaching staff, our researchers, and partners, we will be able to train students under new educational programmes. These include artificial intelligence and information security, which is very important now. For applicants, and then graduates, studying at the Academy will become the start of a successful career. For my part, I will make every effort to ensure success," said Rafael Zverev.
The First Forum of the Russian Customs Academy is taking place from 10 to 12 February. The event is attended by heads and officials from customs authorities, representatives of customs services of foreign states, and representatives of federal executive authorities. Within the framework of the forum's first day, held at the National Centre RUSSIA, discussions dedicated to education and training of the personnel for the customs authorities of Russia and the CIS, as well as thematic modules under the panel session "Professional Self-Determination", are taking place.
Furthermore, during the event, an Agreement on Cooperation in the field of educational and scientific activities was signed between the Russian Customs Academy and Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
