First khorovod brought several generations together at the National Centre RUSSIA in Yugra
Residents of Yugra joined a khorovod (round Dnce) and
performed the "Waltz of Unity" to melodies from the war years. The
blue kerchief became a touching symbol of the flash mob. On 9 May, the first
khorovod was held at the National Centre RUSSIA in Yugra as a tribute of memory
and gratitude to the generation of victors.
"At the National Centre RUSSIA in Moscow, khorovods
have already become a good tradition as a symbol of unity and the connection
between generations. And today, on Victory Day, a khorovod unfolded for the
first time here at the National Centre RUSSIA in Yugra. Participants joined
hands and formed a circle — and this resonated in people’s hearts, which is
especially important on such a holiday. We are together. We remember. We are
proud," said Anton Pilipas, Head of the National Centre RUSSIA in Yugra.
2026 has been declared the Year of Unity of the Peoples of
Russia. The khorovod is an ancient symbol of unity: there are no first or last
participants, everyone is equal and moves together. It is about a country where
different cultures do not divide people, but unite them. The National Centre
RUSSIA in Moscow established this tradition, and Yugra continued it with its
first khorovod on Victory Day.
The campaign brought together students and schoolchildren,
silver volunteers and city residents. On Victory Day, at the National Centre
RUSSIA in Yugra, anyone could tie on a blue kerchief and join the event. The
blue kerchief is a sign of loyalty, clear skies and faith in Victory. With it,
people waited and believed. With it, they won. This image is familiar to
everyone from the songs and memories of the war years.
The "Waltz of Unity" khorovod was held as part of
the All-Russian commemorative campaign "Blue Kerchief of Victory",
organised by the Russian Land Charitable Foundation. The campaign has already
brought together more than a million people across the country and abroad.
