Results of the 3rd All-Russian Photo Contest "Medics at Work" announced
At the 4th National Congress with International
Participation "National Healthcare", the Russian Research Institute
of Health (RIH), supported by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation,
summed up the results of the photo contest dedicated to medical professionals.
The Congress is organised by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation
and the Roscongress Foundation, with the Russian Research Institute of Health
(RIH) of the Ministry of Health of Russia acting as the organisational partner.
The event is held at the National Centre RUSSIA.
The photo
contest was held for the third time and received around 3,000 entries this
year. Most submissions came from Moscow and the Moscow region, the
Republic of Bashkortostan, St Petersburg, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous
Area–Yugra, and the Tyumen region. Forty-seven photographs were received from
the Donetsk People’s Republic, ten from the Lugansk People’s Republic, and two
from the Kherson region. Participants also represented foreign countries,
including Belarus, Uzbekistan, Iran, India, and Abkhazia.
"Your
photographs show the world how important the medical profession is. They
are filled with compassion, care, and empathy — all the qualities every patient
hopes to see when seeking medical help. This is the third time we have held
this photo contest, and every year it becomes increasingly popular among
participants. Over the years, we have received more than 10,000 submissions.
Let this victory inspire you to new creative achievements. I wish you
professional growth, happiness, success, and, of course, good health,"
said Aide to the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Alexei Kuznetsov
at the award ceremony.
Traditionally,
the most popular category was "Medics at Work", followed by
"#WeDon’tLeaveOurOwnBehind", and "Patients, We Love You!"
in third place.
Despite the
diversity of submissions, they all share a common emotion — admiration for the
courage and professionalism of doctors, nurses, and paramedics who save lives
every day.
"We
have summed up the results of the 3rd All-Russian Photo Contest with
International Participation 'Medics at Work'. As before, the heroes of
the project were students and doctors with 40, 50, and even 70 years of
experience — thousands of healthcare workers with unique life stories. This
year, the contest was dedicated to the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland.
Its goal was to highlight medical professionals whose heroism often remains
'behind the scenes'. We received photographs from nearly every region of Russia
and several foreign countries. We sincerely congratulate the winners and thank
all participants for their inspiring and motivating works," said Director
of the Russian Research Institute of Health (RIH) of the Ministry of Health of
the Russian Federation Olga Kobyakova.
Heroes of
the Winning Shots
The work by
Sergei Roshchupkin, winner in the "#WeDon’tLeaveOurOwnBehind"
category. The photo features a soldier recovering from injury in a
military hospital. Having lost both legs, he is learning to walk again with
prosthetics. Doctors Dmitry Amandykov and Anastasia Kurbanova help him fulfil
his dream — to learn to skateboard, symbolising strength of spirit and faith in
life.
Yekaterina
Telenitskaya, an operating theatre nurse at St Petersburg’s City Mariinskaya
Hospital, won in the "Medic at Work" category. Her photograph
captures a rare and poignant moment during a complex heart retrieval surgery
from a donor whose heart was later transplanted to a recipient.
In the
category "On Land, in the Air, and at Sea", the winner was Grigory
Kulizhnikov, anaesthesiologist and resuscitation specialist, who photographed
the transportation of a young patient with a severe injury aboard an air
ambulance. His shot is a metaphor for care, hope, and human compassion.
The winner in the "Medics of All Countries,
Unite!" category was Mbanzani Rossi Laskoni from the Republic of the
Congo, currently completing his medical residency at the S. I. Georgievsky
Medical Academy in Crimea. His story is an example of dedication to the
profession and a desire to contribute to the common cause of preserving human
health.
In the
"Future Medics" category, the winner was Yelena Plotnikova, whose
work is dedicated to medical students who already know what it means to rush to
where every second counts. One day on an ambulance means dozens of
calls, illnesses, human pain, and not a moment of rest. In the evening — a
brief pause by the vehicle, weary looks, and experience that no textbook can
teach.
The winning
shot in the "Medical Dynasty" category features Yulia Aleksandrovna
Chepeleva. Since childhood, she has dreamed of medicine, inspired by her
mother’s stories and photographs of her great-grandmother, a feldsher. In her
family, medicine is a tradition passed down from generation to generation.
During her studies, Yulia realised that being a medic means not only treating
patients but also listening to them. During her first internship, her mentor
told her: "You are one of those who never give up." These words
became the symbol of her journey — a path of compassion and devotion to the
profession.
In the
"Half a Century of Service" category, the story of district
phthisiologist Valentina Fyodorovna Kruglova from Samara was presented. She
has devoted more than fifty years to medicine. After the war, having been
orphaned, she decided to become a doctor to help others. Since then, her entire
life has been connected with the same dispensary, where she has become an
example of hard work, responsibility, and dedication. In January 2026,
Valentina Fyodorovna will turn 85, yet she still continues to serve — among the
patients for whom she once chose this path.
In the
"Patients, We Love You" category, the winner was Roman Dorodnykh,
Head of the Press Office of the Ministry of Health of the Kursk Region. His
photograph tells the story of 101-year-old Olga Minchenko from the border
village of Goncharovka, who spent seven months in occupied territory. After
liberation, she was evacuated by rescuers and handed over to doctors at Kursk
City Hospital No. 3. The medics provided her with all necessary assistance,
found her relatives, and helped her return home. This photograph captures
humanity and compassion that prevail over any hardship.
The main
goal of the contest remains to draw public attention to the invaluable work of
medical professionals.
The award
ceremony for the winners will take place as part of the 4th National Congress
with International Participation "National Healthcare". The
event will also feature an exposition of the best photographs submitted in
2025.
