US sociology professor Wang Feng: I am very much looking forward to the January Expert Dialogues

Wang Feng, Professor of Sociology at the University of California (USA), plans to present participants of the January Expert Dialogues with an analysis of the demographic revolution and personally invites colleagues to join the discussion. The event will take place on 30 January at the National Centre RUSSIA and will be one of the key events of the Open Dialogue "The Future of the World. A New Platform for Global Growth".

"In my view, from a demographic perspective, the world is entering a completely new and uncharted era. Already today, more than two thirds of the world’s population live in countries where fertility rates are insufficient even for simple population replacement. At the same time, populations are ageing rapidly, and in many regions of the world they have already begun to decline. It is precisely these global changes and their consequences for our new world that I am very much looking forward to discussing with colleagues and participants at the Expert Dialogues," Wang Feng said.

The Open Dialogue "The Future of the World. A New Platform for Global Growth" was held for the first time in April 2025 at the National Centre RUSSIA and has already become part of global history. The event brought together more than 3,000 experts from dozens of countries. By decision of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, the Open Dialogue will be held annually.

Participants in the January Expert Dialogues will discuss the key challenges and megatrends shaping the economy of the future, including finance, demography, technology and the labour market. The main speaker and moderator of the event will be Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation, Maxim Oreshkin.
