Pushkin and national self-awareness: new episode of the "Russia Speaks" podcast with Yevgeny Zharinov
The
National Centre RUSSIA presents a new episode of the original educational
podcast "Russia Speaks," timed to coincide with Russian Language Day
and the anniversary of the birth of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.
The special guest of the episode is literary scholar, writer, and professor at
the Department of Theory and History of Art of the Institute of Fine Arts at
Moscow Pedagogical State University, Yevgeny Zharinov.
The sixth
episode of the project explores key "Pushkinian" themes — from an
in-depth analysis of the role of Eugene Onegin in shaping national
self-awareness to a philosophical reflection on the famous phrase "Pushkin
is our everything."
In a lively
discussion with the host Anzhelika Kiryan, Yevgeny Zharinov spoke about
lesser-known episodes from the poet’s biography, including his relationship
with the imperial court. The literary scholar shared his personal views on the
future of Russian literature in the context of modern cultural challenges.
Special attention in the podcast is given to the impact of Pushkin’s legacy on
Russian identity in the digital age.
