Rais Hussin on the role of digital ecosystems in modern economies
App icons on a gadget screen are the user interface behind
which vast digital ecosystems operate. In some countries, their influence is
already comparable to major sectors of the economy. Rais Hussin, CEO of EMIR
Research, spoke about this in the Open Dialogue podcast "OD on Air"
with Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of Russia,
Maxim Oreshkin.
"Platforms are no longer just applications. In some
countries, even GDP depends on them to a significant extent. Take Alibaba, for
example. Sales on this platform rise sharply during holiday periods thanks to
the scale effect, high-quality products in demand at attractive prices, and a
seamless mechanism that allows people to make purchases," said Rais
Hussin.
The podcast with the expert was recorded during the January
Expert Dialogues. This event is part of the Open Dialogue series. The
initiative was launched by the National Centre RUSSIA in partnership with the
Centre for Cross-Industry Expertise "Third Rome", with the support of
the Presidential Executive Office of Russia.
