Russian architecture and its influence on global trends: lecture at the National Centre RUSSIA on May 30
On May 30, the National Centre RUSSIA will host the next lecture in "The Birth of Scale" series titled "Russian Architecture in the Global Context."
The moderator will be art critic and architectural historian Yelizaveta Likhacheva. The speaker is Andrei Chernikhov, Professor at the International Academy of Architecture (IAA), Head of the "Architecture" department at the HSE University, and President of the Yakov Chernikhov Foundation. He is also the curator of "The Birth of Scale" exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA. The event starts at 18:00.
The lecture will examine the role of Russian architecture in the global architectural process. Participants will discuss how Russian architecture has developed over the centuries in close interaction with worldwide architectural movements.
Experts will also analyse the contribution of Russian architects to global architecture and their influence on global trends. Special attention will be given to iconic Russian projects implemented abroad. Attendance is free, but registration is required in the "Events" section on the National Centre RUSSIA website. Places are limited.
"The Birth of Scale" exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA showcases completed architectural projects as well as ideas that remain only as concepts. The exposition consists of both the National Centre RUSSIA's own objects and those provided by museums and private collectors across the country.
Partners of "The Birth of Scale" exposition include DOM.RF, the Ministry of Construction of Russia, Gazprom, the State Research Museum of Architecture named after A. V. Shchusev, the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art, the Yakov Chernikhov Charitable Architectural Foundation, and the HSE Art and Design School.
The history of Russian architecture, bold concepts, and Soviet urban planning projects realised across the globe were presented to delegations of the exposition on May 31.
These mills were technological structures, each one a complex mechanism despite its apparent simplicity.
