"The Russian family is multiethnic": Vladimir Vasiliev reminded of a cultural diversity at the Wedding Festival
The cultural and linguistic diversity is the wealth of Russia. Every tenth Russian family is multiethnic, and the Russian language becomes common to the members of these families. The head of the "United Russia" political party faction in the State Duma, Chairman of the All-Russian Public Organization "Assembly of the Peoples of Russia" Vladimir Vasiliev told about it during a press conference in ITAR-TASS on July 21.
There, the start of the All-Russian photo contest "Knowledge. Russia: the Peoples of Russia" was also declared. The finalists of the contest will present their photo works at the exposition under the same name at the National Centre RUSSIA. The photo exposition will open on the National Unity Day. Photos can be sent by any resident of Russia, both professional and amateur. The due date for submitting the applications is August 30. The contestants can turn them in by this date on the website of the Russian Society "Znanie". The selection of the best works will last throughout September. An expert jury will select 60 finalists.
The organizers of the All-Russian photo contest are the Guild of Interethnic Journalism in cooperation with the Russian Society "Znanie".
The project aims to show the cultural diversity of the country through the lenses of photographers who have captured the unique traditions, customs and daily life of the peoples of Russia.
"We have an amazing country, we are very talented and strong. Every tenth family consists of members of different nationalities, think about this data. But the Russian language is spoken in these families. I was born into a Kazakh and a Russian family, and I understand what I'm talking about," said Vladimir Vasiliev.
The deputy stressed that there are a huge number of nationalities in Russia: more than 190, and even more languages. He mentioned as an example the Republic of Dagestan, where there are 30 nationalities that differ in their culture and identity.
Vladimir Vasiliev reminded the public how wide was the cultural diversity represented at the All-Russian Wedding Festival "Russia. Uniting the Hearts" at the National Centre RUSSIA, which took place on July 8-10. "July 8 became a public holiday, and it was very nice when dozens of couples had their wedding ceremonies at the same time at the Wedding Festival. When the organizers hit the nail on the head, there is a resonance, the spreading of the idea," said Vladimir Vasiliev.
In addition to the photo exposition, as part of the All-Russian photo contest "Knowledge. Russia: the Peoples of Russia", on the National Unity Day, visitors of the National Centre RUSSIA will have a chance to get to a gala concert of the "Musical Map of Russia" project. There, the music of different peoples of Russia in a modern interpretation will be performed.

The sightseeing and educational project "Routes of Victory" was developed by the National Centre RUSSIA and the Republican Unitary Enterprise National Exposition Centre "BelExpo".
