Russian school students win six medals at the International Geography Olympiad
Our young people have once again proved that geography is taught better than anywhere else in Russia. At the Second Open International Geography Olympiad, the Russian team won four gold medals and two silver medals, finishing first in the overall team standings.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergei Kravtsov congratulated the students and their coaches on their achievement.
Gold medals were awarded to:
– Tikhon Pulyaev, Moscow Gymnasium in the South-West No. 1543;
– Engelina Gayazova, University Gymnasium of the Lomonosov Moscow State University;
– Mikhail Pustynny, Letovo School;
– Stepan Klepov, School of the Centre for Pedagogical Excellence.
Silver medals were awarded to:
– Danila Borisov, Saltykovskaya Gymnasium, Balashikha;
– Semyon Sitnikov, Viktor Buglakov Gymnasium No. 40, Krasnodar.
Such achievements are an investment in the country's future, and we would like to support these talented young people. We invite the winners to attend the Forum of Geography Teachers and Students of Specialised Universities, as well as guided tours of the "Geography Lessons" exposition.

From 28 July to 11 October 2026, the National Centre RUSSIA in Moscow will host the exposition "Legacy. Theatre. The Greats", held under the motto "A Union of Happy People".
