Russian winemaking was discussed at the RUSSIA EXPO
Representatives of science, educational organizations and
wine industry together with the guests discussed the prospects of development
of domestic winemaking.
The plenary session "Russian Winemaking: a Look Through
the Prism of Science and Technology" was opened by Nikolai Ravin, Deputy
Director for Scientific Work of Biotechnology FRC of the Russian Academy of
Sciences. The discussion was moderated by Alexander Chulok, Russian forecaster,
international foresight expert of the United Nations Development Program,
Doctor of Economics, Director of the Centre for Scientific and Technological
Forecasting of the ISSEK NRU HSE. The event was attended by Igor Serdyuk,
Director of Premium Development of JSC "Fanagoria", Alexander
Soloviev, Head of the Department of Horticulture and Viticulture of the K.A.
Timiryazev Russian State Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Svetlana Zeynalova,
TV presenter and others.
Alexander Soloviev, Head of the Department of Horticulture
and Viticulture of the K.A.Timiryazev Russian State Academy of Agricultural
Sciences, told the participants about the theoretical and practical basis,
which is given to the students of the department by the teachers.
"In the scientific environment we emphasize the
combination of theory and practice. We grow about 50 varieties of grapes, many
of which are cared for by students, among others. This happens through
practical classes. We invite leading experts in the industry, who conduct
educational masterclasses for students. And thanks to the use of knowledge and
technology, we get a quality product," said Alexander Soloviev.
Igor Serdyuk, Director of Premium Development of Fanagoria
JSC, touched upon the topic of scientific research in the industry.
"I know that there is serious data from the Kurchatov
Institute, in particular on genetic engineering. And this raises the question
of how these studies differ from others at the analytical level. And this
should be taken into account when conducting serious research," he
emphasized.
TV presenter Svetlana Zeynalova noted that for her
winemaking is an integral part of art, which shows the wealth of the country.
"For me, winemaking and viticulture is not just a part
of the economy and agriculture, but exactly an integral unit of art. And the
people who dedicate their lives to the study of the grape, its types, the
technology of wine production, make a real work of art. It is a real symphony
and not just a beverage that you drink and forget about it. It is an
opportunity to feel the secrets of aftertaste and learn the technology of
production," emphasized Svetlana Zeynalova.
As part of the Day of Science and Technology in the Wine
Industry, the RUSSIA EXPO hosted events aimed at promoting scientific,
technological and innovative development of the industry, raising awareness of
key market participants, ordinary consumers and society about the modernization
level and potential of Russian wine producers, scientific organizations and
research teams.
